The Brampton Adult Soccer 35+ Masters season has come down to a showdown between the top two teams in the division.

On Sunday morning, first-place CC United and second-place Sixteen Masters FC will meet for the first time, with the Brampton Adult Soccer 35+ Masters title race hanging in the balance.

And there couldn’t be much less separating these two teams.

CC United enters the matchup atop the table with 29 points, while Sixteen Masters FC is just one point behind with 28. Both teams have won nine matches, but CC United remains the only unbeaten team in the division with a 9-0-2 record. Sixteen Masters FC is 9-1-1, with its only defeat coming last weekend in a 2-1 loss to Dashmesh FC.

Two of the BAS Masters’ Best

If the standings aren’t enough to create intrigue, the offensive and defensive numbers certainly are.

CC United has scored a league-best 50 goals through 11 matches while conceding just 15. Sixteen Masters FC has been even stingier defensively, allowing only 9 goals while scoring 42 of its own.

That sets up a fascinating contrast: CC United brings the division’s most explosive attack, while Sixteen Masters FC brings its toughest defence.

CC United’s attack has been led by Kevin Buckley, who has exploded for 17 goals, tying Sixteen Masters FC’s Randell Richards for third place in the Masters scoring race.

The Road to Sunday

CC United has been remarkably consistent throughout the season.

After opening the campaign with wins over JJD Legends and Dashmesh FC, CC United ran up an 11-1 victory over Punjab City FC and continued its unbeaten run through June and July.

Its only dropped points came in draws against Mega City FC and Lakeshore SC.

The team enters Sunday’s match on a particularly strong note after dismantling Hustler FC 7-1 last weekend.

Sixteen Masters FC has been just as impressive for most of the season. The club opened with six straight wins and went unbeaten through its first ten matches, including convincing victories over JJD Legends, Armada Legends, Sarabha FC and GTA United MFC.

Then came last Sunday’s unexpected stumble against Dashmesh FC.

That result dropped Sixteen Masters FC to second place — but it also makes Sunday’s matchup even more significant.
