A Fond Farewell to Marjorie PeasePosted on December 27, 2022October 13, 2024 by Brampton Adult Soccer1 A BAS career spanning 20 years came to a fitting conclusion earlier this month when Marjorie Pease and her husband relocated, making travel to BAS matches impractical. Marjorie Pease was one of the original registrants back in 2002 when BAS first offered a program for women playing soccer in Brampton. How many of these first-gen’ BASers like Marjorie are still kicking (a ball)? We’re not sure, but it’s certainly no more than a “dozen-ish”, by our estimation, and only a precious few are women. The Notorious Hurricane Kyle Match of 2002. Marjorie is under the sign. In 2003, she took the reins as Captain and established the Spitfires who have been a fixture in BAS ever since. She counts the memorable wins and Championships among her fondest memories, but most importantly, all the friendships made over the last two decades. Spitfires Fall Indoor 2003. Marjorie is bottom row, far right. One of her lighthearted moments occurred during a playoff match when the age of one of her young players was called into question. Marjorie put the matter to rest when she asserted, “I can vouch for her age…I was there when she was born!!” The player in question was Marjorie’s daughter, Christine and Marjorie and her were one of the many Mother/Daughter combinations we’ve had in BAS over the years.
