Rule Change Affecting the Dome | 7 a-side Soccer

At a recent Brampton Adult Soccer Board Meeting your BAS Board of Directors have voted to implement the following 7 a-side soccer rule change for INDOOR: 

Teams play 6 a-side including the keeper at the Save Max Soccer Centre Building AND 7 a-side soccer at the Save Max Soccer Centre Dome. 

Why the change to play format in the SaveMax Dome?

BAS piloted this the concept of increasing the number of players to 7-v-7 in the SaveMax dome during the last Winter session and the teams that participated in the pilot project were all in overwhelmingly in favour of it.

An extra player on the turf means one less player on the bench and the SaveMax Dome – being longer – can accommodate this.  The teams that piloted this last year tended to use a 1-2-2-2 formation (keeper-defenders-midfielders-forwards). The larger goals in the SaveMax dome also have an effect on the style of play for 7 a-side soccer so that adding additional players helps keep games tighter and more competitive for all teams without sacrificing the sort of space and time one would expect from indoor turf soccer.

This affects matches at the Save Max Dome ONLY.

Full Rules 

Teams play 6 a-side including the keeper at the Save Max Soccer Centre Building AND 7 a-side at the Save Max Soccer Centre Dome. Teams that do not have at least 6 (or 7 in Dome) players must play short-handed until more players arrive. The start time will not be delayed and there will be no automatic forfeit. The League reserves the right to add players to a team that is consistently short.
