Adriana Leon Signs for Manchester United

Canadian striker Adriana Leon has signed a 3 year deal with England’s Women’s Super League side Manchester United.

Leon was part of Canada’s gold medal winning squad at the Tokyo Olympics and has amassed 81 senior caps for the Canadian Women’s National Team scoring 23 goals and placing her in the top 10 goal scorers for Canada’s Sr. National team. Adriana spent 3 years at WestHam with 59 appearances and 13 goals.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled and honoured to join this historic football club. To be the first Canadian female player to play for Manchester United fills me with immense pride and excitement.”

Technically, Adriana is THE FIRST outright Canadian to play for Manchester United. Owen Hargreaves really doesn’t count as he represented England at the international level and so it’s a big spurious to claim him as the first Canadian to play for the Red Devils.
