Victor Loturi Transfers to SPL’s Ross County FC

Cavalry FC’s Victor Loturi becomes the second Canadian Premier League player this season to be the subject of a lucrative (in CPL terms) transfer to Europe. Loturi spent 3 seasons with Cavalry FC, one of the CPL’s perennial contenders. 45 total appearances for the 21 year old, who debuted with Cavalry at only 17, provided Loturi with the opportunity to hone his skills and showcase his talent as a dynamic central midfielder.

According to Transfermarkt.us, the shortlisted nominee for CPL U21 Player of The Year award, Victor Loturi fetched Cavalry a $100,000 transfer fee from Ross County FC in the Scottish Premier League.

He has exceptional technical ability and game intelligence that allowed us to use him as a key part of our possession play. He also has an incredible engine that provided us with great energy throughout our games. Through hard work, patience, and perseverance, he took his chance and never looked back. We will miss Victor, but wish him nothing but the best in the next chapter of his career.”

It was just two weeks ago that Diyaeddine Abzi was transferred to Pau FC in France’s Ligue2 and Victor Loturi now joins him, Borges, Estevez, Waterman, McNaughton and Chung in the list of CPL names that have gone on to higher leagues using CPL as their pathway.

Considering that the CPL salary cap for a season is somewhere between $800,000 — $900,000, a sum of $100,000 for an individual player goes a long a way with regards to a CPL teams bottom line and ensuring success and longevity of both the club and the league itself. Now that Canadian players like Victor Loturi and Diyaeddine Abzi are being seen, and signed, other young Canadian talent can be far more optimistic than they were just 3 to 4 years ago. According to Ross County FC’s manager Malky Mackay, on observing Loturi, “we have spent a significant amount of time watching him”, something no doubt made possibly only because of the CPL and OneSoccer.ca. Any team, across the globe, interested in a player from the CPL can at will view every CPL game that player has participated in with relative ease. The impact of that accessibility can not be understated.
