Cruyff Courts Coming to BramptonPosted on March 24, 2022October 13, 2024 by BASPresident0 Furthering its destiny as the epicentre of soccer in Canada, the City of Brampton has approved the construction of a new Cruyff Court (soccer court) for small-sided games. A Cruyff Court is small soccer field placed inside of a court setting so that the ball stays “in play” longer than it would in a typical soccer match. A Cruyff Court would certainly be a welcome addition to Brampton’s recreational infrastructure and what we certainly don’t need is more unused outdoor rink’s like the one on Conservation Drive. It’s impressive how little the City does to accommodate residents’ actual wants and needs. Booking field time in Brampton during the winter months is next to impossible and both youth and adult soccer organizations find themselves short of turf time, clamoring for every last slot available and sitting hopelessly on waitlists… …and yet someone thought it wise to approve an expensive outdoor rink off Conservation Drive that sits unused most of the year and even when the ice is in place there’s rarely anyone using it.
