Pacific FC wins BIG in CONCACAF League

On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022 Pacific FC hosted Waterhouse FC of Jamaica in the 2nd leg of their CONCACAF League tie. This was Pacific’s first ever CONCACAF match at home and while supporters have seen Pacific FC put up stellar performances against the likes of Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the Canadian Championship, Tuesday night’s performance was by far the most complete, dominating and comprehensive display of their attacking prowess to date.

The result? A 6:0 victory over their Caribbean opposition, a team that topped the table in Jamaica at the end of the last season.

The first leg was a stalemate, ending 0:0 in an empty stadium in Kingston. The return leg on Vancouver Island, in front of almost 5000 PFC supporters was a goal fest.

CPL in CONCACAF

Pacific FC’s result against Waterhouse was entertaining and filled with attacking verve and match dominance, particularly at home, is something CPL teams can be expected to deliver. Forge FC participated in the previous two CONCACAF League competitions (after winning the first 2 CPL Championships) and generally dominated matches both home and away.

CPL teams have been dominated in CONCACAF play; Forge’s first foray into the competition where, after a solid home leg, they were dominated 4:0 in Honduras by Olimpia CD, a club with over 100 years of history.

In their second go round, Forge managed to advance into the CONCACAF Champions League and had the misfortune of drawing Mexican giants Cruz Azul… …in the end Cruz Azul’s squad, valued at over $60 million was just too much for Forge with their sub 1 million salary cap roster.
