Match of the Week: Walkers FC vs. Hot Grabba FC

Walkers FC vs. Hot Grabba FC by Dylan Andrade

Under a blazing sun and cloudless sky, Walkers FC kicked off against Hot Grabba FC in a match that promised to test both teams’ endurance. The match kicked off with each side looking to establish an early dominance. The bright conditions made for a fast-paced opening. It was Hot Grabba FC who struck first, with Cody Sennyuen opening the scoring early in the contest.

Walkers FC, not to be outdone, equalized the scoring not too long after. As the teams headed to the interval, the match was delicately poised.

The second half saw Hot Grabba FC emerge with renewed vigor, seemingly unfazed by the oppressive heat. Their pressure soon paid off with Noah Sennyuen making a beautiful run past the last line of defence and using that lightning quick pace to get into a 1v1 position, and slot it home, to match his brother’s tally.

With Hot Grabba up 2-1, Walkers FC pushed for another equalizer, but the heat seemed to sap their energy as the match wore on. It was in this crucial period that Walkers FC’s goalkeeper, Matthew Macedo drop kicked a ball as he had stepped out of his box to give the opposing team a free kick in a dangerous position. Luis Najarro stepped up to take it. He had beautifully placed it into the bottom right corner making the score 3-1, so the crowd thought, but the referee disallowed the goal.

Not to be thwarted, Noah Sennyuen struck again when he rifled a strike into the bottom corner to complete his brace and effectively seal the win for Hot Grabba FC.

As the final whistle blew, the scoreboard reflected Hot Grabba FC’s superiority: a 3-1 victory that owed much to the Sennyuen brothers’ clinical finishing. For Walkers FC, it was a tough lesson in the importance of maintaining intensity, even in challenging conditions. The bright, hot day ultimately belonged to Hot Grabba FC and their two-goal hero, Noah Sennyuen.

Thanks to Noah’s relentless efforts on both the attacking and defensive ends, Hot Grabba FC has firmly secured their position at the top of the Div B table. With only one match remaining, Walkers FC are now left just one agonizing point outside of the last playoff spot.
