Match of the Week: Ebony SC vs. VSFCPosted on September 24, 2024October 26, 2024 by Brampton Adult Soccer0 Wow! Our Match of the Week: Ebony SC vs. VSFC, saw a clash of Brampton Soccer titans unfold as the presumptive BAS Cup favorites kicked off against the 5-time champions—and it was only a quarter-final!!! Our Match of the Week promised all the drama, intensity, and excitement of a final, setting the stage for a dream contest. Under the evening lights and amidst a light drizzle, conditions were less than ideal for our final night match of the 2024 season. Despite Ebony SC maintaining a 60:40 possession advantage, it was VSFC who created the most promising opportunity in the opening 15 minutes. Nicholas Chiarot made a dynamic run down the left wing, delivering a powerful shot that tested Ebony’s goalkeeper, Fabian Grossett. However, Grossett was equal to the challenge, making a composed save to deny the early chance. Who knew at this early stage that it was to be VSFC’s best chance of the evening? As the half progressed in the Ebony SC vs. VSFC match, Ebony’s dominance became increasingly evident. They consistently won the majority of 50:50 challenges and orchestrated fluid passing sequences, punctuated by precise through balls that would ultimately unravel VSFC’s defense. In the 30th minute, one such through ball, expertly delivered by Richard West, found the foot of leading scorer Darren Chambers, who confidently slotted it between the legs of VSFC goalkeeper Dante Torres, securing the first goal of the match. Ebony doubled their lead less than two minutes later, as a precise header from Sedane McCreath caught goalkeeper Torres off guard, finding the back of the net. Suddenly, the most decorated team in BAS Cup history was facing a steep uphill battle. Just before halftime, Ebony extended their advantage with a masterful passing sequence between Darren Chambers, Shawn Dixon, and Rushawn Plummer, which left the VSFC defense flat-footed and all but extinguished their hopes of a comeback. The second half was marred by minor injuries and frequent stoppages, disrupting the flow of the match. However, Ebony’s dominance remained evident. Since mid-summer, their form has carried an aura of invincibility, and their commanding victory over VSFC serves as yet another warning to all challengers.
